Privacy Policy
Point2Picture (“we,” “us,” or “our”) helps caregivers and professionals build communication boards using familiar photos. This policy explains what information the Point2Picture iOS app and point2picture.com website collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Summary
- The app stores boards, photos, labels, voice settings, and child profile names on your device. We do not operate a cloud backup of your boards today.
- We do not sell your information, show ads, or use third-party analytics in the app.
- The app does not require an account.
- If you choose optional background removal, a photo is sent to a third-party service (remove.bg).
Information stored on your device
When you use the Point2Picture app, the following stays on your iPhone or iPad unless you explicitly use a feature described below that sends data elsewhere:
- Child profile names you enter to organize boards
- Photos you take or import from your photo library
- Board content, including labels, routines, choice boards, and layout preferences
- Custom voice recordings, if you record pronunciations for words
- Voice settings, such as language, pitch, and speaking speed
- App preferences, such as display and tap-animation settings
This information is saved locally using your device’s storage. Deleting the app removes this data from your device, subject to how iOS handles app data removal and any backups you maintain through iCloud or other services.
Device permissions
The app may ask for permission to use:
- Camera — to take photos for communication cards
- Photo library — to choose existing photos and, if you allow it, save images
- Microphone — only if you choose to record custom word pronunciations
You can change or revoke these permissions anytime in iOS Settings. Some features will not work without the relevant permission.
Text-to-speech
When you tap a card to hear a word, the app uses your device’s built-in text-to-speech. That speech is generated on your device and is not sent to Point2Picture servers.
Optional background removal
If you tap Remove Background while editing a photo, the image is uploaded to remove.bg (Kaleido AI GmbH) for processing. That service operates under its own privacy policy. We do not control how remove.bg handles uploaded images. Only use this feature if you are comfortable sending the selected photo to that service.
Information we do not collect in the app
As of this policy date, the Point2Picture app does not:
- Require you to create an account or sign in
- Upload your boards, photos, or child profile information to Point2Picture servers for storage or sync
- Use advertising or ad tracking
- Use in-app analytics or crash-reporting SDKs that collect personal information
Children’s privacy
Point2Picture is intended to be used by parents, caregivers, therapists, and other adults supporting children. Adults enter child profile names and add photos on the device. We do not knowingly collect personal information about children on our servers through the app.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us directly, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Website: email sign-up
If you join our mailing list at point2picture.com, we collect the email address you submit so we can send product updates. That form is processed by our email form provider. You can unsubscribe from those messages at any time using the link in our emails or by contacting us.
How we use information
We use information only to:
- Provide app functionality on your device
- Process optional background removal when you request it
- Send website updates you signed up for
- Respond to support or privacy requests
- Comply with law and protect our rights
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- With remove.bg when you use background removal
- With service providers that help us run the website (such as form/email delivery)
- When required by law or to protect safety and rights
Data retention
- App data: kept on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app
- Background removal: governed by remove.bg’s retention practices
- Email list: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your address
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information we handle. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Because most app content stays on your device, keeping your device passcode-protected and up to date is an important part of protecting your data.
Your choices
- Manage iOS permissions in Settings
- Delete boards, profiles, or photos within the app
- Uninstall the app to remove locally stored app data
- Opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us
International users
Point2Picture is operated from the United States. If you use the app or website from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app or website after changes means you accept the updated policy.
